Quick Christmas Nails

The lesser time you think you have to do your nails today, the more you should get them done. Yourself. I believe in you.

This design takes two colours you're likely to have around the house already: white and red. A shade of pink would work as well, really. Makes for a more pastel design. The only other material you need is washi tape. You may already have this lying around your house since you've been wrapping Christmas presents. I prefer washi over normal scotch tape for nail art because washi won't leave behind a film of stickiness on your nails when you remove them. Basically, it's less of a headache!

So let's begin.

First, you want to paint all of your nails white. Then, allow them to dry completely. Give it a good 20 minutes to be safe - if you don't have that kind of time, put on a layer of fast drying top coat to quicken the process. It's got to be completely dry, or the washi will lift the polish!

Then, cut about 4 pieces of 3cm long washi tape. You don't have to be accurate, it just has to be longer than your nail length so it can cover it entirely. Then, paste them on the back of your hand to remove some of its stickiness.

Then, cut them into long strips. You don't have to be consistent with the width of each strip - in fact, the differing widths will make the candy cane look more realistic.

After that, simply paste them diagonally across your nails. Make sure to flatten them down along the edges of your nails to ensure that your lines will be crisp later.

Once you're satisfied with the arrangement of the tapes, paint a layer of red polish on top. Make sure to cover the entire nail, and don't leave out the edges.

Before the polish dries at all, you'd want to remove the tapes. This allows the lines to be crisp and straight. Take them off quickly but carefully.

Depending on how much time you have, you can paint anything between two to all of your nails. When you're and happy, seal all your nails with a fast crying top coat, and you're done!

And that's it! Hope you'll try this out, and merry Christmas!
