The Studded Nail

10:10 AM

Told you my first tutorial would be up soon. Here's the lowdown on The Studded Nail, a quick (seriously) manicure with a rock 'n roll edge. I've had these Bullion beads for awhile now, but never had the patience to try them out. To make sure they don't fall off, I used 3 layers of top coat, and believe me, they're secure. Not a single bead has fallen in the past week. Before I start with the instructions, watch the video.

What you'll need:

Base Coat: The Face Shop
Top Coat: Seche Vite
Base Colour: BK901, The Face Shop
Bullion Beads: Purchased at an Art n Crafts store
Brush: Purchased from a stall at the Scape Flea Market

Step-by-step:

  1. Get your base coat done
  2. Paint your base colour on
  3. While the colour is still wet, quickly dab some base coat on a piece of paper
  4. Dab your brush onto the base coat, pick up a bead, and place it on your nail.
  5. Start your line of beads from the cuticle downwards, and make sure you press each bead in place
  6. Complete your line of beads, knock them in place again just to make sure, then put some top coat on
  7. Brush over the beads first, then on either sides
  8. For added security, add another layer of top coat. Make sure to let the previous coat dry first. Seriously.
